It happened back in August… August 27th to be exact. It was our first day at Burningman and we were both beaming with excitement to finally be there. I had packed into our bag his ring, a blanket and a bottle of 1942 – off we went to watch the sunset. As we headed out the dust quickly picked up and we realized that we would need to take cover. We went into this art structure, that I called the little dust castle. We found refuge there until the wind cleared and the sun came shining thru the haze. We took off quickly and found the perfect vantage point just in time to watch the sunset. The truth is that I was planning on proposing to Kevin during a photo shoot that I had staged – thinking that it would be the perfect way to capture the moment and get his reaction… I had this whole elaborate thing planned. Little did I know that he had my engagement ring in the same pocket of my bag where I had kept his ring. Our conversation turned into talking about our future and then into him asking me to marry him. I was kind of flustered because it took a lot for me to prepare myself mentally for the idea that I wanted to propose to him.- An uncommon practice for most women. So when he popped the question I was frustrated and replied, “You can’t propose to me… I was gonna propose to you!” then he reached into the bag pulled out this amazing ring . Tears just started rolling down my face and I quickly could care less about my silly little plan…. We were both laughing and crying and it was perfect. We still did the photo shoot which ended up on the cover of Rolling Stone. Funny how things happen sometimes.
