We’ve returned to Cabo after our amazing wedding at Burning Man. Words can’t explain this once in a lifetime experience. Nonetheless we and are beaming with love and gratitude from this time spent with loved ones. Burningman was the place where Kevin and I really fell in love, and the place where we feel most connected. Therefore, it was only fitting that we sealed the deal in dusty winds of this magical desert.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with this 10 day art & music festival, Burning Man is temporary city that focusses on acceptance, self reliance and self expression. Since we know that a lot of our family members wouldn’t be up for this adventure, we decided to have our wedding in 3 parts. This way we could each meet and celebrate with the others respective family. The first “Pre- party” was hosted by my Mother, Sister and Brother-in Law in Colorado at the Turnverian Ballroom in the historical part of Denver . My mom had it catered with awesome food and a beautiful cake. She hired a photographer and we danced all night. Kevin and I did a Tango to finish the night. Kevin was welcomed into my family by both my mother and father’s sides of the family.
The second part was our wedding ceremony at Burningman. With my work, I’m fortunate to be a part of incredible weddings every weekend, so when we started looking at our different options we realized that we wanted to do something totally different. I didn’t want to have the the stress that most brides have of making every detail perfect. Many of the normal traditions, seating charts, catering etc. simply aren’t possible there which allowed us to focus on the meaning rather than the material. (I actually got that from Julianne’s Wedding Blog and had to use it because it was so true.) We did do a potluck for lunch at the 5 Star Ashram Galactica Hotel (thanks to our wonderful friends), and also for Dinner that night. The food was delicious and catered to our Vegan, Gluten-free guests as well. We could tell each dish was made with pure love. On our wedding day, the only thing we really cared about was that our guests had an awesome time and that we got some great photos.
The last part of our wedding was in Sacramento at Kevin’s parents house. Phil & Nora and his brother Brian & wife Cherrelle helped plan the party. We had Italian food and a full dessert table with all of our most favorite desserts. We watched a video that his cousin Phil had made with photos of Kevin and I growing up and a slide show of our time at Burningman. I enjoyed spending time with people who have known Kevin his entire life, he is lucky to know so many amazing people.
I want to say “Thank you” to a few people who made this happen. First off, to our parents for making this journey and helping plan the parties. To our friends who were adventurous enough to make it happen. I hope our wedding was an opportunity for you to discover new parts of yourselves and each other . We hope to have many more adventures with you. Thank you for all of your help and support, we love you so much.
Thank you to the very talented Gena Shvartsman Cristiani who designed my Couture Victorian Wedding dress. It truely is the most beautiful thing I have ever put on my body. I want to wear it every day. She can be found on Facebook.
I have to say that my bridesmaids dresses were super cool! Not only were they perfect for the occasion, the girls all loved them and the quality was top notch. Kelsey’s Creations on Etsy is where they can be found.
Florals were done by Kathleen Simeone out of Sacramento with “I Do Florals”. She was wonderful to work with and the bridal bouquet and boutonniere’s exceeded my expectations. She can be found on Yelp or Wedding Wire.
Thank you to Joshua and Maura Holmes and Maria Scilppi at The Ashram Galactica. It was the perfect venue for our wedding. You guys were wonderful.
Last but not least, we have to mention our friends at TOYL. Michele, Ian, Kazlo and Duke, Bob, Betty and Cee-toph, Brad and Leah… just to name a few. I’ve known you guys for only a few years, but you have always welcomed us with open arms. Your family has been an inspiration to us, and has made an impact on the vision we have for our own life. Thank you for your warmth and acceptance over the years and for the Bratapillar… I can’t wait to see the transformation.
We haven’t received our professional photos yet but our photographers Michelle & Damien have posted a blog that has some of the best ones .
