10401485_753776778014103_1575045539457058952_n.png_885749373I had the pleasure of doing the hair and makeup for producer Nancy Grant during this weeks  festivities for the 3rd Annual Los Cabos International Film Festival (Nov.12-16th). She and Xavier Dolan were honored for their work with Canadian Film “Mommy“. Mommy is an Indie film that is about a widowed, single mother raising her son alone who finds new hope when a mysterious neighbor inserts herself into their life. Xavier Dolan is the producer and script writer. At 25  years old, he is a young prodigy who has  impeccable taste and talent. This is his 5th feature film (his 4th film in Canne).  He was nominated as best foreign film for a Caeser 3 times around. We hope they get nominated for best foreign film at the Oscars this year!

The Los Cabos Film Festival was created in order to support filmmakers who wish to internationalize their trade. The weeks festvities included industry networking events, galas, red carpets, tributes, and outdoor screenings. The 2014 Program included a total of 49 films – 80{394ba9b977cdb97484e9e35f39db822ee8275a3caece20bc8b8378ea68910770} (39 films) of these were premieres: 15 Mexican, 21 Latin American and 3 World Premiers.

The opening of the Third Edition of the Los Cabos International Film Festival took place at the outdoor theater of the Pabellón Cultural de La República, in Los Cabos. Reese Witherspoon, Rosario Dawson, Xavier Dolan and many others participated in the film festivities.

American actress, Rosario Dawson, presented the Latin American Premier of film The Captive (2014) as part of the Tribute to Atom Egoyan. Besides the Tribute to Atom Egoyan, the Festival has announced Tributes for this year’s edition to: Guillermo Arriaga, Denys Arcand and a posthumous tribute to American film critic, Roger Ebert. As part of the recognition to these icons of the film industry, their latest films and an iconic work: Words with Gods (2014) and The Burning Plain (2008) by Guillermo Arriaga; The Captive (2014) and Exotica (1997) by Atom Egoyan; and An Eye for Beauty (2014) and The Barbarian Invasions (2003) by Denys Arcand. Life Itself a documentary by filmmaker Steve James, based on the life of Roger Ebert (1942-2013) will also be presented.

Los Cabos International Film Festival is proud to offer within its activities a total of USD $227,000 to support projects from Mexico, the USA and Canada.
