Gaby is one of our senior stylists for our bridal team, so when she announced that she was getting married we were all super excited! Nate and Gaby’s story about how they met is adorable. They met thru his grandmother, who was a client of Gaby´s at the salon she works at in San Jose. Here is Gaby’s story about how she ended up living in Cabo and meeting the love of her life Nate…
“I was born in Puebla, Mexico, and before the age of five we moved to the states because of my dad’s job, it was either the states or Germany… my father had previously visited Princeton New Jersey and said thats where he wanted to raise his 3 daughters. At the age of 15 I went to beauty school for the first time, right after I graduated high school I went to the Paul Mitchell Academy where I had the time of my life!… After being on my own for a few years (and engaged for two and a half years to a horrible person) I decided to come visit my mom, dad and younger sister in Mexico. This was the first time I had been to Mexico since I left. I loved it! My younger sister was traveling all over Mexico before starting college, and at that time was in Cabo. When I came to visit her I felt at home, time had completely stopped. I was having such an amazing time that I completely lost track of time. Really, there was no no motivation to go home to New jersey. I made the decision and stayed… the lease of my car was up, and I sold off the condo. I had the rest of my stuff like clothes and furniture taken care of by my older sister. After being in Cabo for a year, thru a lot of learning and adjusting, I started working at a salon called “Shampoo” where I met a woman by the name of Evelyn Pepper. She was very well-known real estate lady, with a particular style. She would always tell me about her grandson who had that had just moved to Cabo to come work with her. She insisted that I had to meet him. On the anniversary cocktail of our salon, I was already bummed that I had to be there all day (since I started work at 8 am and the cocktail wasn’t until 5-8pm.) But then my first client walked in and my mood quickly changed. It was Evelyn Peppers grandson. As I started his haircut I was totally nervous but enjoying the relaxed conversation we were having… even though I was the color of a tomato and trying to still do a good job, I was smiling so hard because he was attractive… so after the cut I obviously invited him to come to the cocktail as a costumer right…. during the cocktail I saw his grandma and later him coming from the parking lot… we greeted each other and after a short few minutes his grandmother comes towards me as she walks to her car and says, “Take care of him”… wow yes I was shocked.. We were having such a good time at the cocktail that we even continued talking at Starbucks.. after that we started having fun dates…. Then after a year and 8 months of dating, Nates family was coming down to Mexico for the first time…thats when nate and I were feeling good in our relacionship and just decided we wanted to get married, (nope no awesome proposal story -more like you know -I love you and don’t want anyone else, yes me too, lets get married..)Planning a wedding is no joke – it’s really hard work. We always knew that we wanted to work with Sara Richardson for photography, since she did our engagement photos and have seen a lot of her work. For our ceremony we had a beach wedding with the flowers for our Arch Designed by Nate from a local flower shop. Our reception was at Don Sanchez. with help from a great chef Tadd Chapman, which helped design our menu…. and of course -Hair and makeup provided by the one and only , the best …. Neysa Berman”
